Peace Officer Memorial
In October of 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Annually during the week of May 15th, nationally people gather to remember the memory of their fallen loved ones.
The importance of this ceremony is to remember those of us left behind, and to recognize that these officers did not die in vain. We the people owe a debt to those who have given their lives in the line of duty, and it is important that we pledge that their loss will not be forgotten.
